Patchwork Kimono No. 64
Patchwork Kimono No. 64
Inspired by the traditional Japanese kimono made from indigo, we’ve recreated our version of the kimono made from sinh, a Lao traditional skirt in this second batch. The kimono features patchwork of traditional ikat designs sewn together, minimalist dolman sleeve in cocoon silhouette, and a slight ruched back collar. In this edition, we’ve swapped out the ikat in the back panels for a darker solid indigo to give it some contrast. This light-weight handwoven cotton makes for the perfect weight for transitional weather and day wear; wear it as a duster over shorts or jeans for a casual, relaxed look.

Sizing: The Patchwork Kimono is hung on a size 8 dress form. Can fit up to to women’s XL (US 14-16). Body length 33.5”; Body width 25.5'“
Fabric: cotton weft, polyester warp for structure. Dyed and handwoven by the Phu Tai in Laos.
Care: We have pre-washed the fabric before sewing to achieve this vintage and weathered look. The back panels have not been pre-washed as to keep to the traditional wear of freshly dyed indigo. It also gives it structure and will get softer with more wear! Because the fabric have been naturally dyed with indigo, there will still be some bleeding from the next few washes- that’s ok because the dye is plant-based. We recommend hand wash only in lukewarm water (with a very small amount of mild detergent if necessary). Please do not hang in direct sunlight as that will cause excessive fading. Cool iron.

Because all of our garments are handwoven and hand dyed with natural dyes, slight color differences and imperfections between fabrics are expected. These differences enhance the beauty of our textiles and are celebrated.
