Odd and Ends Basket

Handwoven in Houaphanh, Laos, this basket is constructed of bamboo. The rich availability of natural, fibrous plants in Laos has led to a long history of basket weaving. Often referred to as ka tha, baskets are traditionally used in Laos to store food or clothing. The use of bamboo and rattan for crafts, such as this basket, have provided farmers with a secondary source of income.
