The Tai Lue people, an indigenous ethnic group living in northwest Laos, are famous for their elephants and their cotton production. Every February, the Tai Lue throw a festival in Sayaboury province celebrating the elephants to bless them with long life and good health. This stuffed elephant was created by Mae Boualoy from hand spun cotton and natural indigo dyes to celebrate the annual elephant festival. It has been popular amongst animal lovers.
